Running grow lights on a consistent schedule is one of the most basic requirements of indoor cannabis cultivation, and a reliable timer is what makes that happen without you having to flip switches manually every day. During vegetative growth, most growers run an 18/6 light cycle (18 hours on, 6 hours off), and during flowering, the cycle shifts to 12/12. Missing these transitions or having inconsistent timing stresses plants and can trigger hermaphrodite traits during flowering.
